Lollapalooza Lineup announced.

lollapalooza1

Check out the lineup here

Get tickets here

Finally! The lollapalooza lineup has finally been announced. I am a bit disappointed about Daft Punk not being on the lineup, but I was kind of expecting them not to be after last years epic performance.

There are still a lot of killer bands to go and check out. It is still in the same spot as it normally is, Millennium Park. The park is in the heart of downtown Chicago and is really easy to get too.

The price is a bit steep, but I think it could be worth it. As of now, the 3 day advance pass is 190 dollars but those are to go to all three days. Closer to the actual festival they normally have one day tickets if there is a certain day you want to go.

Some of the wicked bands to watch out for:
Passion Pit
Depeche Mode
MSTRKRFT
TV On the Radio
Crystal Castles
Santogold
Of Montreal
Animal Collective

Japan days 3-7.

Sorry for taking so long to update! I haven’t had access to wifi these last few days!

There are so many people in Japan, everywhere. No joke, you are constantly surrounded by tons of people anywhere you go it seems like. Walking through a train station is extremely hectic, yet everything seems to have order. People are so nice and curteous here that the big crowds never really seem to matter. I love everything about this society.

Things have been going good from this neck of the woods. Where I left off was we were still in Tokyo and we went to Mt. Fuji. We didn’t get to get too close because it is only fully open in winter but we got to see it and stuff. I was a bit sketched out of the whole Mt. Fuji being an active volcano so I was semi-glad to get out of there. haha.

The next day we went to Hiroshima and saw all of the sights. It seems like anywhere you go in Japan, no matter how small it looks on the map, is actually big. Hiroshima looked small, but was actually a decently big city. We got to see the A-bomb dome and the peace park and this flame that will only go out once global peace is reached and there aren’t any nuclear weapons. The A-bomb was basically the only building that semi-survived the bomb due to it being dropped basically directly overhead of it. It was a really sombering place when you actually visit somewhere where a tradgedy like that occured. There is this really wicked island that you can take a ferry out too. They let deer just cruise and roam around anywhere and they are really tame and come right up to you. The island is a pretty sacred place and they have a big gate in the ocean and stuff.

We only had one day in Hiroshima, so it was time to head to Kyoto. Kyoto is a really cool city that has a lot of old culture and customs. This is the main part of Japan that still has geishas and geisha shows. It was pretty peculiar to see a bunch of ladies in the custom kimonos just cruisin down the street. There was a geisha papparazi crew that we saw, which seemed extremely odd to me, but I learned that they are really revered people in Japanese culture.

The next day we went to Nara, Japans first capital city. There was a HUGE buddhist shrine there with the largest bronze buddah in the world, so that was pretty legit. Once again, really old culture here and a lot of pagodas and cool things too see. The shrine also happens to be the largest all wood building in the world, it was ginormous. When we got back at night we had an interesting meal. We don’t read japanese, so we just point at things that we want when ordering food from a menu. We walked into a restauraunt expecting beef/ribs over rice, and it ended up being EEL. Now, we had already sat down so we had to order something. We ordered one piece of eel, and I will say it will most likely be my last. I’m not too big on seafood as it is, but this was rediculous. Helpful hint: always know what you are getting yourself into in the food world.

From Kyoto, we headed to Matsumoto/Nagano. This is where the Winter Olympics were held in 1998 and it is in the middle of the Japanese Alps. (Japan has alps, who knew? haha) We saw the Matsumoto castle and actually got to go inside of it and everything. There was a pretty killer moat around it as well with legit samuri gear and everything. We ate at an Irish Pub (in japan) and had this really killer dude talk to us about Matsumoto’s history and how his name is Ichiro and he really digs Ichiro Suzuki. Totally sweet.

Tommorow we officially go to Nagano to check out the Olympic stuff!

Tracks spinnin through my iPod:
1. Any Fizzy Dino Pop song.
2. Gwen Stacy - The Fear In Your Eyes
3. PlayRadioPlay - Without Gravity
4. MSTRKRFT - Heartbreaker
5. The entire Justice Across the Universe Album
6. Bring Me The Horizon - It Was Written In Blood

Eclectic Mix of tunes, I know.

Japan days 1/2

Well japan is quite an interesting place. I have never been somehwere so different from the US before, but it’s killer.

We started off leaving at 1045 AM from the airport for the treacherous 13 hour plane ride. We flew all the way up to Alaska then over so we were always by land, which was weird.

Tokyo is a whole different story. There is so many people here, all the time. It is rediculous how hectic things are. Yet, everyone is really polite. Things are very organized and cool. The first sign that greeted me was a huge coca cola sign saying welcome to japan which I thought was sweet! (picture below)

We had some troubles with the train but ended up getting to our hotel (hotel NUTS) via cab. It deffinently doesn’t help that none of us know too much Japanese, but we manage. We are staying in one of the busiest parts of Tokyo (shinjuku) so that makes it even more busy!

We were pretty jet lagged but we managed to stay up late enough to get on their time schedule, which ended up being 6 AM my time back home So I was up for a full 24 hours.

The 2nd day, we decided to brave the subway system. I finally figures out everything and it was really nice because they say everything in Japanese and English on the subway. After that we went to this really cool park where people just chill and have picnics all day and you can buy really good street vendor noodles!

We then rode the subway again to asakusa neighborhood for a really old temple. People flocked there to prey and it was a really cool experience. The temple is so old and huge it still amazes me.

After that we got to go to akihabara neighborhood, which is the electronic district :)! This was my favorite part of the day. In these electronics stores they have everything. Computers, phones, games, midi keyboards everything. We roamed around here for a while then headed back.

Technically, they haven’t officially added the Call of Duty title onto the name in the teaser so as of now it is just called Modern Warfare 2. My guess is they will add the title on closer to the time of the release. The details are still sketchy, but I’ll keep you guys posted on the latest news!
